  • About

Integrative Creative Arts Therapy at CCAT is offered by Rachael only.

Creative Therapy is an evidence-based form of therapeutic intervention. It encompasses different creative arts domains such as play, art, drama and dance, as well as music.

Using different modalities of the arts to connect with a client can provide more ways of self-expression, communication and exploring the self and the unconscious. It can be of particular use, if a client might find solely exploring through talking too daunting.

Rachael has undertaken different Continued Professional Development training in different therapeutic art domains alongside her masters in therapy, and continues to do so with some more upcoming training later this year!

    Structure

Creative therapy sessions typically last between 50-60 minutes. The sessions take place at Rachael’s therapy studio in South Cambridgeshire.

We offer a free 15 minute consultation call for prospective clients to meet the therapist and ask any questions they may have.

We also recommend booking an initial session to help the client assess whether our therapist is the right fit for them. From there, the client can then make a decision on whether they would like to move forward with us.

    Fees

The fee for Creative Therapy is £70 an hour.

The fee covers the session time with the client each week, the preparation for each session, and resources, materials and equipment needed for the sessions (and their upkeep).

There are three spaces at any one time for 'sliding scale' clients. These are only held for individual music therapy work with Rachael. Sliding scale is applicable to those who require music therapy but cannot afford the full fees disclosed above. These spaces can be enquired about. We do not ask for any proof of income, they are allocated based on the expectation that any potential client enquiring is honest about their situation.

Should you have questions about any of this, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

  • About

Music therapy is a clinical, evidence-based practice. The use of music interventions help people meet physical, emotional, cognitive, motor and social goals, addressing needs from low mood and stress relief to communication and rehabilitation, often for those with disabilities, illnesses or mental health challenges.

Music therapy interventions might look like singing and playing instruments together, song writing, musical games, music and art, movement to music, music listening and much more!

    Structure

Music therapy work can be short or long-term depending on the need and aims of the therapeutic intervention.

It is generally not advised to undergo two creative therapy interventions at the same time, so keep this in mind when enquiring.

Individual music therapy will begin with an assessment period of 3 sessions over 3 weeks (1 session a week). These sessions will typically last between 45-60 minutes.

When you enquire or request an assessment period, we will ask you to complete a form with relevant information the therapist might need to know. This will be along the lines of any diagnoses, aims, referral reasons and general background information. If you would like to trial a session before committing to a full assessment period, this is something we can offer.

All data is held within GDPR regulations. Consent and contract forms will be sent to you to sign as well.

After the assessment period has ended, we will form a report and discuss the findings and recommendations with you and set out a plan moving forward.

Sessions will usually be of a set length (45-60 minutes) and a set amount of weeks, should this be applicable. Goals will be discussed and set before the main block of sessions begins.

Music therapy can take place in the client’s home, though we do ask for a quiet relaxing space where there will be no interruptions during the session time. Or the sessions may take place in a local community space. The room hiring fees for which will be added to the monthly invoice.
Should the therapy work be undertaken by Rachael, there is also the option to attend sessions on site in her therapy studio.

Reports for both individual and group sessions will be provided after the initial 3 sessions, at the middle point and again at the end of the intervention.

For ongoing long term music therapy work, reports will be completed on a 6 monthly basis and can be requested at any point other between these for an extra fee.

    Fees

The fee for individual music therapy is £70 per hour. Sessions can vary in length between 30 minutes and an hour.

The fee for group music therapy is £110 an hour for up to 8 group members. The fee for groups of 9 or more is £150 an hour.

The fee covers the session time with the client each week, the preparation for each session, musical instruments for use in the sessions (and their upkeep), music software and equipment we might need, and travel costs.

We ask for added travel expenses if the therapist is traveling further than 20 miles.

We recommend weekly sessions, but also consider fortnightly work as well.

There are three spaces at any one time for 'sliding scale' clients. These are only held for individual therapy work with Rachael. Sliding scale is applicable to those who require therapy but are in financial hardship or cannot sustain payments of the full fee (detailed below) on a long term basis. These spaces can be enquired about. We do not ask for any proof of income, they are allocated based on the expectation that any potential client enquiring is honest about their situation.

  • About

Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) at CCAT is offered by all therapists.

“Neurologic Music Therapy is an evidence-based clinical approach using standardised musical techniques to treat, rehabilitate, and improve cognitiv, sensory, and motor functions following neurological damage. Unlike traditional music therapy's focus on psychosocial well-being, NMT applies neuroscience to target specific, non-musical goals like speech, gait, and cognition, fostering neuroplasticity.” - NMT Academy

NMT can also support special educational needs work as well as neurological injury.

Please enquire to find out more!

  • About

Wellbeing workshops are offered to organisations of all kinds. We cover schools, charities, businesses and corporate to name a few.

This is an ideal workshop to provide the opportunity for team building and staff wellbeing education.
We offer group activities for building connection and support through creative means, such as art, music, movement and more.
We also give interactive presentations which provide knowledge and education on self-care methods and strategies.
Workshops can be offered in varying lengths from an hour to a full day. They will take place within the organisation’s setting, and all materials are provided.
The workshops are lead by our team of therapists with extensive knowledge on mental health, therapeutic techniques and team building.
When enquiring about our wellbeing workshops, we offer free consultation calls to discuss your organisation’s needs, so we can tailor the workshop to provide the best care and meet the needs of the attendees.

    Structure

The structure we offer as our foundation workshop is as follows:

Introductions and Ice Breaker - we explain who we are and what we do, and what we intend on doing in the workshop. We then encourage an ice breaker activity for everyone to get involved in. For larger groups this will likely involve splitting into pairs or small groups.

Interactive Presentation- We will give some background as to what wellbeing is and why it is important. We will integrate a bit of theory and neuroscience (but in easy to digest terms) to evidence the importance. This will be done in an interactive way involving contributions from the attendees and opportunities to ask questions.

Wellbeing/Self-Care- We will then brainstorm ideas as a group as to what self-care looks like to everyone at the moment and then think about how we can enhance it.
Creative self-care ideas will then be explored together in groups. Each taking time to try each one we have provided for the attendees.

Team-Building- activities and exercises will be provided for attendees to try with facilitators guiding them through the process. These are all creative in nature and will encourage creative thinking, playfulness and fun.

Closing- We will come back together for the last part to reflect on what has been useful and enjoyable. Summarise the most important points and offer a final time for questions.

This foundation for the workshop can then be altered during consultation to focus on the needs of the organisation. It can be condensed for shorter workshops and expanded upon for half or full day work.

Our aim is to listen to what your organisation wants to gain from a wellbeing workshop and to meet those expectations in a welcoming, creative and fun approach.

    Fees

We offer the fees either by the hour, half day or full day rate. This is to provide flexibility and tailoring precisely to the organisation’s needs.

The hourly rate for workshops of up to 30 attendees is £200.
We highly recommend smaller group sizes to enable us to reach everyone on an individual basis, but we can accommodate larger groups should this be desirable.
The hourly rate for workshops of between 30-50 attendees is £350.

The half day rate (3 hours) for up to 30 attendees is £550
The full day rate (6 hours) for up to 30 attendees is £1000

The half day rate for 30-50 attendees is £750
The full day rate for 30-50 attendees is £1300

The rate covers the cost of any materials required for attendees, insurance, additional staffing, and travel (within a 30 mile radius). For any additional mileage we will charge at a rate of 45p per mile.

We can also create bespoke quotes for any specific enquiries that do not fit the categories detailed above.

Should you have questions about any of this, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

Our Process

Consultation

An initial complementary 15 minute consultation call is offered, to give space for the client (or client advocate) to ask any questions and get a sense for what the therapist is like. Should the client be happy with the outcome of this meeting, an initial assessment session is booked in.

Initial Assessment Session

This first session is to meet with your therapist, get to know each other and to settle in! It provides the opportunity for the therapist to assess the client’s needs and discuss the support we can provide.

Make a Plan Together

After the initial session, the therapist will give the client a couple days to reflect, before getting in touch to discuss whether they would like to continue and commit to a block of sessions. We will discuss a treatment plan of action and make sure the client is happy before proceeding.

Collaborative Working

CCAT pride ourselves in working in a client-centred approach. We make sure the therapy work is always focused on the client’s needs and wishes. We prioritise clear and effective communication from start to finish and prioritise listening to our clients and incorporating their thoughts and ideas from the very beginning.

“Rachael has been our son's piano teacher for three years. With a supportive approach, she skillfully ensures that lessons are good fun and incorporate his musical interests. Our son really enjoys their lessons and Rachael has guided him from successfully completing his Grade 4 to preparing for Grade 5, incorporating fun pieces to enhance his playing skills.”

Music Lessons

Rachael has made such a meaningful difference to our lives over the past year. My daughter has additional needs, and through music therapy she has grown in confidence, communication, and overall development in ways that truly touch my heart. Just as importantly, she absolutely loves the sessions — they’re a highlight for her every week — and she has built a genuine bond with Rachael.

Rachael brings so much kindness, patience, and understanding to every session, always adapting to meet my daughter where she is. It’s clear how deeply she cares, and that care shines through in the progress we’ve seen. I can’t thank her enough for the positive impact she’s had on my daughter, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to any family considering music therapy.

- Francesca, Huntingdon UK
Music Therapy

“We were lucky enough to have Rachael sing at our wedding. Her talent is unmatched. She listened to what we wanted, managed to blend two pieces of music together for me to walk down the aisle to in the style we wanted. If that wasn't enough, she even went above and beyond to write us our own song. She has the most beautiful voice and is a gifted song writer. Highly recommend!”
